Becoming part of the Gryphon Racing team requires a strong sense of commitment and devotion. Although we reguarly promote engineering, we do not limit membership to engineering students. Anyone passionate for car design, 3D modeling, finite element analysis, machinery, electronics, racing, accounting, business management, or sponsorship recruitment can apply.
Gryphon Racing offers an experience much unlike other student organizations and clubs in return for hard working members. Through building open-wheeled race cars, we provide students with skill sets that are sought after by employers. Report writing and presentations will strengthen your ability to effectively convey information, while working on mechanical aspects of the car give you practical skills that employers value most for technical positions.
If you believe you have the will to work with us, send an e-mail to ugracing@uoguelph.ca letting us know. We do not require any experience with working with formula race cars; most members learn everything by regularly being involved. We match jobs with skill level and work with you to attain higher skill levels.
2009-2010 Meeting Times
This year we are meeting on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:00 PM, but like always, several members work on the car on most days of the week. Members are never limited to our meeting times to come to the shop.
Please Note
Although most of the people on the team are majoring in engineering, Gryphon Racing is not exclusive to engineering students. There are typically a few physics students each year and other disciplines. Business/economic students are always welcome, as we have a lot of work tailored for their interests, for example.
