Patents
RJ Runciman and RN Allard, Bone Plate Template, Canadian Filing 2179864, U.S. Patent 5746742, 1998

The 3-d contouring a bone plate prior to application to a fracture requires the use of a bending instrument. The process can be simplified by using a malleable template that can be contoured using only finger pressure. This template was designed to give a good representation of the bone plate silhouette and allow easy contouring without the need of an instrument.

RJ Runciman, Orthopaedic Reconstruction Plate Bender, U.S. Patent D383841, 1997

A companion instrument to the Bone Plate Shaping Device, for convenient bending of bone plates.

RJ Runciman and R Desjardins, Bone Plate Shaping Device, Canadian Filing 2162837, U.S. Patent 5651283, 1997

A one handed, compound action instrument for 3-d contouring of bone plates.

RJ Runciman and RN Allard, Reconstruction Bone Plate, Canadian Filing 2174293, 1997

A contourable bone plate for the surgical treatment of bone fractures.

RJ Runciman, SG Agnew and RK Leighton, Spherical Washer for Use With a Bone Screw, Canadian Filing 2158890, 1997

Bone screws for use with bone plates are manufactured with standardised shaft and head diameters. Correspondingly, bone plates are typically manufactured with geometry to accept a single size of screw. The spherical washer was developed to adapt smaller than standard screws to function correctly with a bone plate.
