Impact of climate change on water quality and quantity has already been felt worldwide. Australia has been grappling with its worst water crisis in decades. In Canada excessive rainfall in Vancouver in 2006 resulted in boil water advisory for over a million people. How extensive is the impact of climate change on our water supplies? Can our current water management approaches adapt successfully to the potential impact of climate change?
A four-year inter-disciplinary research project funded by the Canadian Water Network and Public Health Agency of Canada aims to address the impact of climate change on surface water supplies and potable water systems in small and remote communities in Canada . More information to follow.
